Theology Curriculum

Theology teachers use Sophia Institute: Spirit of Truth 6th-8th Grade School Edition in concert with the religious education standards published by the Diocese of Charlotte Catholic Schools for 6th 7th and 8th Grade. 

The Six Tasks of Catechesis provide the framework for the Religious Education Standards o. They are distinct and complimentary. They offer us the broad strokes of faith formation that will be broken down in greater detail through the Essential Concepts. The Six Tasks of Catechesis are:

  • Knowledge of the Faith

  • Liturgical Education

  • Moral Formation

  • Learning to Pray

  • Education for Community Life

  • Missionary Discipleship and Service.

Each task helps us deepen our relationship with Christ. Knowing Jesus calls us to celebrate this relationship and reminds us of the need for ongoing conversion, which leads to prayer, recognizing the needs of others, and realizing how we are called to share the Good News through word and deed.
